Simulation approach on turbulent thermal performance factor of Al2O3-Cu/water hybrid nanofluid in circular and non-circular ducts

Abstract This paper presents the numerical study of thermal performance factor Al 2 O 3 -Cu/water hybrid nanofluid in circular and non-circular ducts (square rectangular). Turbulent regime is studied with Reynolds number ranges from 10000 to 100000. The heat transfer flow behaviour are investigated, considering volume concentration between 0.1 2%. evaluated terms evaluation criteria (PEC). present results successfully validated data literature. indicate that coefficient Nusselt higher than those /water pure water. However, this enhancement achieved at expense an increased pressure drop. 2% approximately 58.6% larger value water 10000. For same number, drop 4.79 times best pipe compared ducts, but its increment also largest. helps improve problem low characteristic ducts. In overall, reported possess better maximum attainable PEC obtained by square duct Number 60000. can help determine which geometry efficient for application nanofluid.
